Marjanishvili and David Aghmashenebeli Avenue (New Tiflis)
This is the closest Tbilisi has to an Arab and Turkish quarter, and for most Muslim travelers it is the easy answer. Along and just off the grand, restored Aghmashenebeli Avenue you will find Turkish lokantas like Deniz, Ankara, and Sultan Sofrasi serving kebab, pide, and lentil soup, the Persian and grill rooftop at Saffron, and Arabic signage every block or two. It is lively in the evening, full of families, and most of the kitchens here are alcohol-free. If you want to walk out of your hotel and into a halal dinner, this is the area to stay in.
The Old Town and Abanotubani (near the Juma Mosque)
The historic heart, with the sulfur bath domes, the cable car up to Narikala Fortress, and the city's mosque all within a short stroll. Around here sits a cluster of Indian and Arabic halal kitchens, Maharajah, Spice Garden, and Bollywood Masala among them, plus Middle Eastern spots and the Georgian-Turkish TbilisIstanbul Cafe on Abano Street.
